I broke my nose again. It’s almost humorous how I get hurt so often now…
I woke up this morning feeling pretty exhausted, and I have a whole lot of stuff to accomplish today. So after my first class, I decided to walk over to the gas station just off campus and buy an energy drink. They have this great deal where you can buy a 32oz fountain drink for $0.59, and they have a decent no-name energy drink in this fountain. However, on my way there, I was stopped by some people in one of those little red bull trucks, and the gave me a free Red Bull. It was really lucky too because the fountain ended up being out of the energy drink. It really brightened my day to get a free Red Bull though, and now I’m in a pretty good mood. I’m not sure if it was the pleasant surprise or the large quantities of caffeine that is now coursing through my veins, but either way, it’s good to be happy.
Earlier this week, we had a bit of a problem with ants in our house. They were coming in the around the door and making their way over to the trash can to gather food. I’m talking like a major line of ants all over the floor and the wall. Unfortunately, we did not have any bug killer. Therefore, I started looking around the house to find something that would take care of the problem. I stumbled across a bottle of gin from back when one of my roommates used to drink. It hadn’t been touched in over a year so we decided to use it as bug killer. I dumped some on the line of ants going up the wall and tried to cover the line on the floor. It killed them on the spot. I went back half and hour later, and there were only about 5 ants still moving. The next day, there were no ants what-so-ever. I expected the stuff to work on the spot, but I certainly didn’t expect it to permanently handle the problem. Last time I dealt with ants, it was a lengthy battle. So it turns out that gin is better at killing ants than ant killer. It makes me glad that I don’t drink.
I got this email from “Brian Jones”. He was wondering if my “girl is unsatisfied with [my] potency”. Brian just wanted to let me know that if she is unsatisfied, I shouldn’t just sit around and wait until she finds another man. Instead I should choose from a variety of “LICENSED love tabs”. They’ve got the “best prises” after all.
I really might have to look into gettin’ me some love tabs. Thanks Brian!
That pretty much sums up my day yesterday. Well, there was some homework I did in there too, but who cares about homework? That’s what I want to know.
I pretty much hadn’t played tennis since the middle of the summer, so I was pretty rusty when Jordy and I went out early yesterday. Plus, we had played football on Tuesday and I was still sore from that–yes, I am that out of shape. The heat was also cooking me a live, and we all know how much I don’t care for that.
Afterwords I went over to Alex’s for a little drinking, pizza, and videogames. You really can’t go wrong with that combo. We played some Madden, Halo, and Counter-Strike. The problem was that Madden was last year’s version, and the buttons are totally fucked compared to this years. So he beat me there. I’m not saying playing this year’s version would have turned the tides, but it would have helped. I can’t hate on his skills just because I’m used to something else. Halo, needless to say, I dominated everybody at. There shouldn’t have really been any question there. CS we played on the same team, so he couldn’t really beat me, but he’s certainly better than me. He plays it a lot more, though, so it makes sense.
After that Al, Jason, Jordy, Corinne, and I went out for some more tennis. Yeah, that’s five so we just rotated. After that we tried to play some frisbee but it was around 11pm, so it was hard to really see what was going on. It was still pretty fun, though.
I came away from the day very tired. I can’t believe I used to do sports on a daily basis in high school. The simple thought of that just wears me out.
Indiana has decided this year to go on daylight savings time (Eastern Time Zone). Each county in Indiana used to decide which time zone it wanted to be in. I never saw this as a problem, but I guess in some areas, neighboring counties would be on different times, causing confusion.
Terre Haute was also in the Eastern time zone, but it did not observe daylight savings. It was basically on eastern time in the winter and central time in the summer. I actually liked it that way. I have never liked daylight savings time, and I thought that was one thing Indiana did right. Alas, they are conforming to peer pressure, just wanting to be like all the other states. Oh well, it’s only going to affect me 2 days of the year so it’s not a big deal.
So I’ve been sick for like a week now. It kind of screwed up my Spring Break, but then I realized if I had to be sick, I’d probably rather it be during break than during school when I might have exams and such. Well now I’m back at school and I’m still sick. That just sucks. It also partially explains why I haven’t been posting much lately.
In other, happier news, I got my laptop yesterday. I spent a lot of the day just playing around with it and setting stuff up. I’ll be sure to take and post some pics later tonight for your perusal.
I’m kind of curious what anybody thinks. I’m not trying to start a political debate or anything, I’m honestly just curious. The US has a divorce rate of just over 48%. That’s a somewhat biased stat, however, as 67% of people who get married stay married. The other 33% just happens to get divorced more than once.
Regardless, I’m not very impressed by those numbers–and by “not very impressed”, I mean “very unimpressed”. I’m curious what anybody else things. Anybody and everybody.
I really don’t have anything interesting to say. It just felt like I was much overdue for a post. It’s a little upsetting when I can’t think of anything at all interesting to say. Come to think of it, that’s more than just a little upsetting.
Sean Taylor of the Washington Redskins is looking at possibly 46 years in prison. I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that it’s not because he spits on people when he plays football. I know that’s not cool–we here at Shouzer certainly don’t condone it–but I would hope it doesn’t warrant 46 years in prison.
The new version of WordPress just came out a couple days ago, so I figured I’d update. Everything went surprisingly smoothly. It’s not so much that I expected problems as that I just didn’t think it would really be as easy as it was.
I haven’t been doing anything overly exciting lately–mainly just going to work and then lazing around at home. I really don’t have any complaints about that. To me, it’s a good time. We played some Halo last night, which was pretty fun. Scott and Nick were both there and that was the first time I’d seen them over break, which was nice.
Damn, I really don’t have much to say.. ![]()
I usually do not remember my dreams very well, but I had one last night that I don’t think I’ll forget anytime soon. One of my roommates had somehow managed to hook up with Lacey Chabert. For some reason, they came in really late (from break, I didn’t know they were dating), and I happened to be going to the bathroom or something because I ran into them. I didn’t really notice what was going on at the time. At this point, I should probably throw in a picture:

It’s also important to point out that this particular roommate is pretty nerdy looking. He’s a really nice guy though. He also has a tendency to pick out girls who are, well, less than spectacular looking.
I woke up the next morning and found my other two roommates watching TV in the living room. I went in and started talking to them about the previous night’s events:
“I could have sworn I saw [roommate] come in with Lacey Chabert last night.” [me]
“Who’s Lacey Chabert?”
“She’s an actress. She was the girl in Not Another Teen Movie who gives the nerdy kid a hand job for the note.”
“What? And she’s here w/ [roommate]?” (The other roommate and the girl walk in behind me.)
“Yeah, I know. She’s really freaking hot. I don’t really know how he pulled it off. I think I was imagining things.” [me].
So I managed to make a fool of myself even in my own dream. Wow. Actually though, it didn’t turn out to be as awkward as I thought it would be. They were both pretty cool about it. And it turns out Lacey Chabert is really nice. I always thought she would be stuck up. She says that she liked [roommate] because he treated her so well. So there’s a moral to this story. Be nice, and good things will happen to you.
I omitted the roommate’s name because I didn’t think it would be nice to talk about him in such a public forum.
I haven’t written a meaningful post in some time now. Sorry for that. The problem is a dreadful combination of business and no news to report. I’ve given updates on all of the major events in my life, but I haven’t had time to sit around and editorialize anything or ramble on about nothing in particular.
I have to say, I really prefer that my life be like this. I have a lot going on, this week especially, and that makes life a little more interesting. All these little meetings and activities keep me from boredom.
I guess the one thing I did fail to mention is that I’m a project manager of ChallengeX now. I got the news the same day that I heard about my job offer, so that really overshadowed it. I’m in charge of the controls team now. It’s a lot of extra responsibility, hence the business I spoke of earlier, but I’m enjoying it. It feels pretty cool to know that I am in charge now. I guess the profs still make most of the decisions on the team, but the project managers do have a fair bit of control. It should be great work experience too.
Today was my first day back at school after our Thanksgiving break. All in all, I’d certainly have to say I had a good break. I didn’t get as much sleep as I would have liked, but that’s because I was generally doing other things that were probably more worthwhile. My grandparents were in town, so it was cool getting to see them, too.
The biggest problem I had was yesterday. I had put off some homework until I got back to school, and it wasn’t even all of it–I had actually done one of my ECE assignments and both my lab write-up and pre-lab on Saturday. So I wasn’t just putting everything off until the last minute. It turns out, though, that CS 473 was probably the class I should have gotten done early. I started working on all of that around 830 or so last night and I was up until 330 this morning. Yet we still didn’t have it finished. I woke up around 800 and headed over to the CS building, where we met with the professor for office hours. Our homework was due at noon today and we got it turned in around 1130. So all in all I spent about 10 hours working on it in the last day.
Why didn’t we get this idea first?
