Good ‘Ol Politics

Election 2008, Politics by jared Add comments

I’ve pretty much stopped paying attention to any political news lately, which would probably be fairly surprising to anybody who knows me.  I was trying to figure out why, and I realized I think it’s because I just can’t stand Hilary.  She just pisses me off.  I’m not sure exactly what it is, honestly, but anytime I hear her talk I want to rip off my ears.  And that can’t be a good sign.

I’m really surprised that Hilary’s even still around.  It doesn’t seem like anybody really likes her more than Obama, and yet she keeps get votes.  I hear talk about people being inspired by Obama and believing he can make a real change in the country.  I don’t hear the same  things about Hilary.  So who the fuck keeps voting for her?  For real, Hildog, I wanna know what your game is.

Yeah, I find myself watching a lot more ESPN than CNN nowadays. What’s sad is that HRC’s own campaign staff has stated that it’s highly unlikely she will receive the nomination, and the only way it will happen is if the super-delegates choose to override the voters. There is virtually no scenario in which HRC wins pledged delegates at this point.

If the positions were reversed and HRC had actually won twice as many states as Obama and had more pledged delegates, he would have dropped out of the race months ago, and the Democratic party would have been calling for him to do so. Why aren’t they doing the same to HRC?? Don’t they see that the voters have spoken and it’s time to end this charade and unite the party around Obama so that we can begin the campaign against McCain?

Hmm… I’ve been thinking about this a few minutes longer and have come up with a couple ideas. Admittedly, they are way out there, but hear me out anyway.

Maybe HRC is doing Obama a favor by staying in the race for now, and maybe the party is actually wanting her to do so. She (or “unnamed sources” rather) has been going at Barack with some pretty heavy stuff and bringing up issues that the Obama campaign knows voters are concerned about (race/religion/foreign policy/etc.).

If these issues are brought up now and the Obama campaign gets past them, it’s much less likely that they will be brought up again during the general election. Thus, with HRC staying in the race and forcing Barack to answer to these issues now, it gives a whole lot less ammunition to McCain later on when even more voters are paying attention.

Again, I think what is happening is probably not what I have mentioned here, but I think it can be spun that way.
