Colbert For President
I’m not sure how many of you folks have heard, but Stephen Colbert announced he’s running for president (…in South Carolina, heh). According to Jordy, he plans to run as both a democrat and republican, which makes it just that much better.
I happened to be flipping through the channels the other day, and I caught O’Reilly talking about it. He had some “behavior analyst” person or something on, too. It was hilarious. The conclusion good ‘ol Bill came to was that Colbert is “just trying to be hip.” Oh thanks, Billy. I guess that’s your attempt to belittle him, eh? He must be doing something right…

Oct 25, 07 at 1:18 pmI’ve been meaning to post on this. I think it’s awesome! It’s about time someone stood up and made a mockery of our system of electing presidents. It’s pretty ridiculous.
Also, I really liked one of Colbert’s quotes: “I don’t want to be president. I want to run for president…There is a difference.”
Additionally, pertaining to him running on both ballots, it is still uncertain whether each party will allow him to. For obvious reasons, they don’t think too kindly of a candidate running for both parties. The state party committees could possibly prevent him from doing so. Likewise, he also has to pay to be on each party’s ballot. The Democratic cost is $2,500 while the cost to be on the Republican ticket is $35,000. That’s a lot of change just to make a joke.

Nov 01, 07 at 3:39 pmUpdate:
It appears Colbert’s presidential bid has come to an end.
The Democratic state party in South Carolina voted today to keep Colbert off their ballot, stating he did not meet their requirements. Colbert has reportedly stated he will not run as a Republican due to the $35,000 fee.
