My favorite TV Characters part 3

5. Dwight Schrute in The Office
As much as I love Steve Carell, The Office would be nothing without Dwight. The pranks that Jim and Pam play on him are priceless. In the clip below, they convince him that the CIA is recruiting him. He does some pretty amazing stuff on his own too. The guy is just pure comedy gold.

4. Kosmo Kramer in Seinfeld
Kramer is actually the character that I forgot when I originally made the list, but he had to go high up in the rankings. His awesomeness cannot be denied. I still laugh every time I see him throw open Jerry’s door and come sliding through. I’m not sure how I would handle having a neighbor like him in real life, but he is perfect for a sitcom, especially one is that is as conversationally driven as Seinfeld. You people had better be watching these You Tube clips. They take a long time to pick out.

3. Tobias Fünke in Arrested Development
I don’t even know where to begin with this one. Tobias just makes me laugh, a lot. His sexual ambiguity coupled with the outrageous puns he inadvertently says leaves me in stitches. This is the first you tube clip where I actually started laughing again because the jokes are just that good. The rest were nostalgic for me, but these still have some zing in them. Maybe I should go back and watch Arrested Development again. Well, anyway, enjoy:

2. Steve Urkel in Family Matters
Urkel is actually the inspiration for this list. I was watching Family Matters in syndication the other day during what was obviously a very busy day for me. I couldn’t stop laughing. The show is a classic, and Urkel is the backbone. Family Matters was probably my favorite show when I was growing up, although Full House gave it a run for its money. Family Matters has lasting appeal though; it is still good. Take a trip down memory lane with me:

1. Barney Stinson in How I Met You Mother
I suspect that there will be many who have not heard of this amazing show. It is one of my top two-three shows on TV. The writing is fresh and the characters are engaging. Barney, played by none other than NPH, is a man who only cares about sex and money. He has frequent one night stands and has great stories and one liners. “Suit Up!” “Legendary” He is so good that he has a blog on the official website for How I Met You Mother, which you can read here.
He also gets 2 videos as my number one pick:

Tomorrow, the unveiling of my favorite TV character of all time. Who can guess it?

i hadn’t had the chance to comment yet, as i was out of town for the weekend. anyway, i like putting barney so high. it was an upset, i’d say, but i like your thinking. how i met your mother is awesome.

on the other hand, i’d personally have to disagree with steve urkel even making the list, much less making the top 2. the whole “did i do that?” thing got old for me after about the first time i heard it. still a nice list, though.

If Family Matters started this week, he probably would not have ranked so high. He got a significant boost from the nostalgia factor. However, I say the show is pretty good. As I said, I watched it some last week, and it still made me laugh. Don’t write off the Urkel.
