Letterman focused on the guests too much. Conan had a greater percentage of the show just devoted to him being funny. Plus, Letterman’s bits aren’t as good. They play those little games like “Will is float”, and in the case of the show I saw, “What is the frozen substance” (I couldn’t remember the real name of the bit.) I’m just not a big fan of that kind of stuff. It seems kind of stupid to me. Conan did 2-3 bits, and they were all really good. The best was a lulliby he sang to put screaming kids to sleep. He figured they only cared about the tone, so he started saying vulgar stuff. He also did the celebrity interviews where they put the face on the TV and fake the lips. That night it was Martha Stewart vs. Donald Trump. Those are always hilarious, and it was cool to see them do it live. Conan also had the advatage of better guests.
The Max Weinberg 7 was also a ilttle better than the CBS orchestra too. You don’t really get a sense of it on TV because you only hear snippets, but they play through the entire comercial break. Both bands were really good, and it was fun to just sit and listen to them.

That's good also. I was thinking "Hope is a good thing... maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies."

Jared -- I write a quote or song line on my board in my classroom every day. Today I used your favorite from Shawshank. The kids liked it too.
