Clay Aiken

I went to the mall yesterday; shocking, I know. I had to get a haircut and some dinner though. You see, my Grandmother/Uncle got me a gift certificate to Garfields for Christmas. I decided to wander through Waldenbooks while my food was cooking as it was right across the hall from the restaraunt, and I discovered something horrible. Clay Aiken has an autobiography. It gets worse. When I searched Amazon for that link, I found that there is not one, but more like 10 books about Clay Aiken. He even wrote a few of them. I know you don’t believe me, so here’s proof. Why? Do we really need published material about him?
I just thought that was a little ridiculous. It probably wasn’t worth a rant like that, but I was bored. In other news, I’ve been watching a lot of House lately. I shot through most of season 1 this week, and I’ve decided that it’s a good show. It has got me thinking that they should make a dramatic show about an genius engineer.

Just think of the possibilities. The main focus of the show could be him doing some major problem solving. He’ll attempt a solution, and when it fails, he’ll call tech support. Then repeat 4-5 times until the hour is up and it’s time for victory. The drama would have to come from deadlines, of course. “If we don’t get this motor spinning by next Friday, the project is going to be scrapped by the CEO.” That’s just as exciting as, “If he doesn’t get a new kidney, he’ll die,” right?

The supporting characters could be a bit of a problem. There would be the brainy but shy white-guy understudy. Then the brainy but shy asian-guy understudy. His weird and gregarious white-guy peer. And who could forget the lover interest. He’ll fall slowly in love with that vixen of a receptionist while the sexual tension builds between him and his semi-attractive female understudy.
I think it could work.

Something To Report

So now there’s this strange noise coming from somewhere in the room. “Where?”, you might ask. I certainly feel that would be the most appropriate question. Unfortunately, I’m not equipped to answer that question at the moment. The answer eludes me. Everytime I stand up to seek out the oh-so-elusive noise, it goes away.

Literally just now, as I am typing this, I hear the noise… Hm, I turned my head and it was gone. It’s like it’s reading my thoughts. It’s like it’s in my head.

[Update:]  I went to sleep and it hasn’t come back this morning.  I’ll be sure to keep everybody informed of changes in the situation.

Nothing To Report

I really don’t have anything interesting to say. It just felt like I was much overdue for a post. It’s a little upsetting when I can’t think of anything at all interesting to say. Come to think of it, that’s more than just a little upsetting.

Sean Taylor of the Washington Redskins is looking at possibly 46 years in prison. I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that it’s not because he spits on people when he plays football. I know that’s not cool–we here at Shouzer certainly don’t condone it–but I would hope it doesn’t warrant 46 years in prison.

as everyone knows by now – kobe

he scored 81 points. in a single game. and i hate kobe. but im not gonna hate on him and say that the dollar wilt dropped back in the day was better, because i don’t believe it was. neither does John Hollinger.

::sigh::

The Broncos looked pitiful today. Nobody was doing anything right. The only times they looked decent were the first two drives–the first by them and the first by Pittsburgh. Oh well, making it to the AFC championship isn’t anything to be let down by, but I really had that feeling they could make it to and possibly win the Super Bowl.

Plummer admittedly made some bad plays, but I’m not upset with him at all. He played great all year, and he looked like he was about the only guy trying in the last quarter. You could tell he was going all out.

Pretty Amazing

This story is actually pretty amazing to me. It’s nothing huge, but the fact that doctors think they can successfully put people into a state of suspended animation for a few hours strikes me as very cool.

George Bush: Political Genius or Lucky Moron?

I know we have discussed this before, but in light of recent events I think it is worth discussing again.

Bush is once again under fire, this time for his domestic spying. The Democrats are starting to yell, “Impeachment,” but we all know that won’t happen. With Dick Cheney next in line, there is no Democrat in the world who would seriously want Bush out of the way. So that begs the question is Bush a genius for picking Cheney or is he just a lucky idiot? Was he smart enough to know 6 years ago that Cheney would be the perfect insurance policy against an impeachment? If so, he might be the greatest politician of our time. (Note that I’m not saying greatest leader.)

Granted, I’m oversimplifying this whole thing quite a bit. Having a Republican controlled Congress is certainly helping Bush on the impeachment front. But still, every Democratic congressman has to be thinking it. Who is worse, Bush or Cheney?

Thank you Steelers

I just wanted to say thanks to the Steelers for helping me prove the point I’ve been making all season. That would be “It doesn’t matter how well the Colts do in the regular season because they can’t win in the playoffs.” I’ve been saying it from day 1 people. It was so fitting that they lost on a missed field goal too because the only guy in the league who is a bigger chump than Peyton is Vanderjagt.
The officiating in that game was awful imo. That interception they overturned clearly looked like an interception to me. And then there was the pass interference they didn’t call on the Colt’s when the DB tackled the wide receiver. I don’t know how that can fly when New England got called yesterday for what was clearly not a pass interference. Seems like they need to standardize that call a bit to me.

I wonder if the turnout will be as big for the Colt’s training camp next summer now that everyone knows how bad they really suck. I won’t be around to see it anyway so I suppose it doesn’t matter.

Edit:Here’s a story about the questionable officiating over the weekend. Link

seriously

no broncos post? im disappointed/shocked.

Good Read

Here’s a good comment on a post at /. that I agree with almost entirely. It’s worth a read, IMO.

Illinois BBall

Well, Illinois just lost their first game of the season. I’ve gotta blame it on Dee, too. How dumb do you have to be to say to yourself, “Wow, I’m 2/14. 1/9 from outside. I think I’ll keep fucking shooting. I wouldn’t want to pass it to anybody else. After all, I only have 3 assists. Augustine is 5/7? Hm, fuck that, he’s shot enough already. How about if I throw up another wild 3?”

Learn to be a god damn point guard, you selfish fuck. Just because you had 34 last game doesn’t mean you can do it again next game. Asshole.

Great Stuff

I just got a great laugh from the Chuck Norris Facts website. I don’t know if it’s really as funny as I thought it was or if I was just in a laughing mood. Either is equally possible. Just remember…the chief export of Chuck Norris is pain.

MVC On ESPN

There’s a couple abbreviations for you. Haha, or should I say lol. :)

I figured this would be interesting to anybody from around home. Big Ten and MVC are both on their way up, that’s for sure.

Yah for Compaq

My hard drive crashed on Tuesday night. I was naturally quite upset. For those of you keeping track, that’s my 2nd one to die.

reggie

maybe you saw the sportscenter piece about the reggie bush high school highlight video tape, dubbed “reggie bush: the high school years.” anyways, i found an article about it, including what appears to be the actual tape itself. you should definitely check it out.

It’s at the NY Times.
