BCS blows
USC drops to #2. I mean, come on. That’s just ridiculous. I don’t even watch college football, and I know how stupid that is. If this isn’t proof enough for you that the BCS is just worthless, then you are an idiot.
USC should not drop in ranking until they lose, and even then it would be questionable. Didn’t they beat Texas, the new number 1?

Oct 24, 05 at 11:44 pmTexas in undefeated, so they didn’t lose to USC. I checked the schedule to make sure you weren’t thinking about last year or something, and they haven’t played each other since at least 2001 (I checked back to ’02).
A lot of people think that Texas should have been number 1 much earlier, like before the season even started. Their belief is that glory of last season bled over a little too much into this season. I really think both sides have decent arguments though. Yeah, USC hasn’t been beaten in 2 years, and they have key returning players from last year’s championship team, and they have won all their games to this point in the season. But, the fashion in which they are winning (which holds ground in college) hasn’t been as impressive as past years. It seems like every week now, USC is having to come from behind late to steal the game. And Texas has demolished quite a few good teams. They’ve done everything that they can do to be ranked 1, and if it weren’t for the Trojans they surely would be.
I don’t think it’s outrageous at all to see this change in the computer poll, which cares nothing about what happened last year. By the way, if USC lost, they would definitely, and deservedly, drop down in the rankings.

Oct 25, 05 at 11:22 pmi agree with scottie on this one. the fact of the matter is that usc hasn’t lost a game in two years, and that includes two national championship games. if nothing else, i think this is another reason to get rid of the bcs. plain and simple, it’s shit. it shows a lack of respect for a team that’s earned it more than any other over the last 2 years.
i wouldn’t even argue that texas hasn’t played like a better team this year, but to me these close games usc has had lately are the losses any other team would have had over these couple years. until usc actually loses, you can’t consider them anything but the #1 team in the country. if they lose to texas in a national championship game, so be it–then texas would have earned it.
