New Template

I decided to switch the site over to a new template. I still really need to design something myself, but before that happens I need to have the time and inspiration to do it. I like this template quite a bit, though.

Hosted Sites

Yo, just thought I’d give a shout out to a couple new subdomains I’m hosting now. There’s a couple people I know here who are getting into a little bit of web development.. CSS and HTML and such, so I thought I’d lend a hand and give them a little space. They are:

Jordan Timmermann
Derrick Wright

Both are obviously works in progress, but traffic never hurt. :)

17th Chief Justice

I hate to post about politics every time I post, but it’s one of the more important things in the world, so I don’t really feel too bad about.

Roberts spoke briefly, saying that the bipartisan vote for his nomination was “confirmation of what is for me is a bedrock principle, that judging is different from politics.”

Yeah, my ass. Judging is different from politics? Then why did Bush pick a Republican judge? It’s ridiculous to even make a statement like that. Fucking moron. And I know there’s people who bought into that bullshit.

In other news, Korean scientists injected a 19 year paraplegic with stem cells from an umbilical cord. 15 days later she could move and feel her hips. 25 days later she could feel her feet. The U.S. dropped the ball on this one, I’d say. Actually, scratch that. Bush dropped the ball on this one. He’s the one all opposed to stem cell research, right? Yeah.. Yeah, that’s right.

Ah, what a twisted world we live in to allow him to come to power.

New HD

Welp, I got a new HD. There was a deal on outpost.com that let me get a 200 gig Seagate for $50. That was pretty slick. There was really no way I could turn it down. So that brings my total in-computer space to 760 gigs, and puts me over the terrabyte mark for total space (250 gigs in the mythbox, 120 in the xbox, etc). When all is said and done I’ve got 1220 gigs. Haha, that’s ridiculous.

In other news, Tom Delay was indicted on charges of bribery and money laundering. House Majority Leader. Republican. From Texas. Hm…

Wow

Geez, Scott really has to hold this site together nowadays. I keep making promises to post and then I never do. It’s pretty pitiful, really.

I’ve been busy with school, and that’s not just an excuse. I’ve literally had a good 5x more work this semester than any of my previous semesters. That flat out blows. As I always say, I’ll do my best to start posting more. Next week I’ve got a two exams and a presentation that I have to give. That pretty much fucks up my weekend. w00t.

In other TV news, The Office is the shit. Tonight’s episode was one of the funniest shows I’ve seen in a while. It rivals the basketball episode for best of the series, in my opinion. The episode title of “Sexual Harassment” pretty much tells you it’s going to be a good episode. If any of you haven’t watched that show, you owe it to yourself to check it out. I love it.

Arrested Development

Did anyone catch the new arrested last night?

I thought it was total crap. For one thing, I couldn’t even understand what they were talking about in the scenes with Michael and the British girl. The whole thing just confused me. There was very little funny about that episode.

If it continues like this, I will probably quit watching the show.

It’s like a nerd’s dream come true.

New cellphone

Booyah! There it is.

My dad dropped his phone in a can of paint, so he had to replace his obviously. Since we had a family-AT&T plan and AT&T is now owned by Cingular, we all had to get new phones. I know it’s weird, but I’m not complaining.

Funny Pics

I’ve had both of these for a while, but I finally got around to posting them. Pen Is Mightier and Player Vs Hater. Of course, the first one is only funny because I’ve seen the Celebrity Jeopardy involving it. Haha, that was great.

Balancing on a knife edge

I have a lot of trouble keeping my attitude about school in check. Sometimes, I get so frustrated with it that I just want to quit and not do any work. Other times, I get so anal about it that I won’t settle for poor grades. Unfortunately, I have a lot of trouble finding a middle ground in these two extremes. It seems like I’m either not wanting to do my homework or expecting to be getting A’s on everything. I can’t find a middle ground.

Does anyone else experience this? Or is it just because I’m an anal-retentive freak?

Hmm…….

A Little Redemption

Well, the Broncos beat the Chargers and that’s always nice. It was a division game, so that makes it even better. They’re now second in the division behind Kansas City, who’s looking pretty good. Hopefully they’ll turn it up pretty soon.

We had a preseason flag football tourney this weekend. We won our first game and lost our second. It was single elimination, so we’re done. It was pretty weak, though, b/c it’s supposed to be non-contact, but that’s not how the second team played, and that’s not how the refs called it. So we kind of got screwed in that way. I mean, if the rules had been made to allow contact, that would have been different. We would have been ready for that. But they weren’t, and the refs let them get away with it. So it sort of caught us off guard.

Either way, we signed up for the actual intramural flag football league today. That should be pretty fun. We play one game a week, I believe. I imagine we’ll do reasonable well, from what we saw this weekend.

Hey, it’s another weekend trip to Indy

Well, as you know, there’s not much to do in Terre Haute, so I try to leave there as often as possible. This weekend, I went up to Indy w/ one of my roommates.

We went to a Peruvian restaurant for dinner. I’d never had Peruvian before, but I would have to say that I liked it. The best part was actually this bread dip they brought out before the meal. It looked a lot like guacamole, but apparently didn’t have any avocados in it. Could’ve fooled me, but it was good none the less. The waitress told me what was in it and what it was called, but I can’t remember either now. My main dish was some pasta with a pesto sauce served with a piece of chicken and a potato. All of the dishes seemed to very high starch. Most had a potato and either rice or pasta.

After dinner, we went to downtown Indy. On the street, we saw this white guy and black guy fighting with each other over what I assume was a racial dispute. They continued to scream at each other even as the walked in separate directions. It was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. I was trying as hard as I could not to laugh because we walked right by them, but I couldn’t suppress it. I was a little afraid that they were going to get mad at me, but they didn’t. It was one of those, “you had to be there moments”, but I wanted to relate it anyway. Hope it wasn’t too boring for you.

We went to see Lord of War too. I thought it was pretty decent, but not what I was expecting. I was looking for something along the lines of Matchstick Men, but it was actually a pretty heavy-handed political commentary.

The Future of the Supreme Court

Hey everybody,

Yeah, so that plan to study before class didn’t work out too well…LOL.

I was thinkin’ about everything that’s going on with the Senate confirmation hearings for Roberts as the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and was wondering what everyone’s feelings on the situation were.

I’ll say, I was glad to hear that Bush selected him, purely for the reason that it still keeps O’Connor on the court until Bush names a new nominee for her seat on the bench. I’m also glad that it’s worked out as it has. I mean Rehinquest was about as conservative as you can get…so by placing another conservative on the bench in his place won’t drastically alter the dynamics of the court. I am, however, concerned if Bush names another conservative nominee to O’Connor’s seat. She was often the swing-voter and the deciding factor on many key cases involving such controversies as abortion, the death penalty, and equal protection.

Bush is in a position–with confirmation from the Senate, of course–to drastically alter the dynamics of the Supreme Court for the next several decades. Roberts is in his 50s…he could sit on the bench for a long time. And Bush will most likely pick a middle-aged, conservative as his nominee for O’Connor as well…it would be the politically correct thing for him to do, from the standpoint of his party.

Both the Senate and House leaders are republicans, and he’s a republican president. Why not seed the third power of government with people who hold/share your ideals and values as well? I mean, which of us wouldn’t do the same thing in his position? You want people who feel/think as you do to be in power. It helps keep your political agenda in play.

Obviously, and if you couldn’t tell by now, I’m not conservative. I am conservative on some manners, but I would definitely say I’m more liberal.

So yeah, what do you guys and girls think about this? Sorry, this turned out to be a lot longer of a post than I had originally intended.

TGIF

Thank goodness it’s Friday!

That’s really all I have to say. It’s a shame the new version of the site can’t support the shout board anymore…oh well. I just felt like I should post something while I sit here in the coffee shop at the Busch Student Center and wait for my MCB (Molecular & Cellular Biology) course to start at 2:10 p.m. It’s so boring, I really don’t know why I still go since I could prolly do just fine without going since he gives us his own notes on what he’s going to lecture about.

But no, I’m going to be a good student and still go to class. Well, we’ll see how long that lasts…LOL!

Anybody have any big plans for the weekend? I am, of course, scheduled to work as always. They’ve had me in the Fast Track a lot recently. It’s run by a physician assistant and a nurse and then me. I don’t get to do much…except escort patients back and forth. The Fast Track is separate from the main ER…it’s in a freakin’ other building. Needless to say, when I work in FT I definitely get my cardio-workout that day with all the walking back and forth I do. I’d say on average, I walk between 3-6 miles per day back and forth when I work over there.

Ok, time to try and be productive and look over my notes before class.

Have a great weekend everyone!
