Batman Begins
So after my second physics exam today, I decided that instead of studying more physics i’d take a break and go see Batman Begins at the Moolah Screen right down the street from my apartment.
All I have to say about the movie is WOW! Good story, good acting, good special effects, good direction, etc. etc. Overall, I’d have to say that this is definitely 100% better than the last movie, Batman and Robin.
So if you haven’t seen it yet, I definitely recommend it.
Ok, that’s all for now…it’s time to do some laundry.
Must Needs Sleep
I only got about two hours of sleep last night. That sucks. I’m freakin’ tired right now. The thing that really sucks about it is that it was just my fault. There was no reason for me to stay up that late.
Hm. Maybe I should get to bed earlier tonight. That would probably be the smart thing. But I doubt that’s gonna happen. I tend not to do the smart thing when it comes to sleep.
First physics exam
So, I had my first physics exam today. It went surprisingly well. I guess, I overprepared for it, thinking it would be a lot harder than it actually was. There was only two problems I really had any trouble with, but he gives a lot of partial credit, so that’s good.
Also, I found out today that we don’t have lab on Mondays at all. I guess my lab TA forgot to mention that, so that’s pretty sweet!
Lastly, in work-related news, I somehow got elected to go to the monthly staff meeting to represent the Techs with the charge nurses and Dr. Byrne, the ER Director. So that’s pretty cool, it’s Wednesday at 3 p.m.
Anyways, gotta get back to studyin’ physics some more. We’re just started statics.
Workin’ On The Mythbox
I was working for a lot of yesterday on my Mythbox. Stuff was really acting screwy on there. I finally got it figured out. So my box is acting flawlessly again, which is nice.
In other news, I’ve started the rewrite of the ShouzerBlog backend. A couple reasons led me to do it.. First of all, the current version was never finished. That’s as good a reason as I’d ever need. But, on top of it, Scott’s been having those problems logging in. Even if it’s his computer, there’s got to be something on this end that’s adding to it. So what the hell.
Lastly, Our Lady Peace is a good band. Gotta give the credit to Al for telling me about them. He told me about a month and a half ago, but I finally got around to listening to them, being the lazy mofo that I am. Somewhere Out There is a good song. Innocent is a pretty good song. All in all, it’s a good cd.
Work and all
So I’m home right now, and since I’ve got access to another computer I figured I’d write up a post.
Work this week has been pretty cool. I’m playing with a lot of really expensive toys, and I’ve learned a new programming language. My job is mostly figuring out how to implent a new interface that I just started learning. Since I just learned it, I run into a lot of road blocks. So a spend a majority of my time trying to figure out how to solve problems. It makes for a couple hours of frustration followed by about half an hour of elation. That happy time makes it all worth it though.
In other news, I’ve got links for you.
Sodoku is a great puzzle game.
The Perry Bible Fellowship is a comic strip. It actually doesn’t have anything to do with Christianity; it’s a bit like the Far Side really.
The Legend!
I can’t remember if I’ve posted this before or not. Even if I did, it’s worth checking out again. Legen Of The BloodNinja! It’s hysterical, if you ask me.
Batman Begins
Just got back a little while ago from seeing Batman Begins (which, on a site note, is stupid because I have to get up early to work tomorrow.. ugh). I’ve got to say, I was 100% impressed with that movie. It gives Sin City a run for its money as best movie (so far) of the year, and it’s probably become my favorite comic book movie. It certainly passes Spiderman, but I’d have to watch X-Men again before I said that for sure. Anyway, if you’re a fan at all of that sort of stuff, definitely go see. I seriously doubt that you’d be let down.
Physics sucks!
1 week down, 7 to go! Somebody shoot me now. WTF was I thinking taking physics in the summer? Scottie, you tried to tell me, I remember, but geez, I’m gonna go nuts.
The only saving grace is that I don’t have class on Fridays…but I’m still gonna be workin’ on physics homework and stuff studying for my test. Thank god I kept those calculator programs from physics back in high school. I think they’ll help some on this first test since it’s gonna be over forces, kinematics, and some stuff over Newton’s laws.
Back to studying! Hope you all are enjoying your summer…I’m not!
Naps Are Good
I just woke up a little bit ago from taking a long-ass nap. It felt pretty good, as naps usually do, but I woke up with what I like to call the “nap feeling”. Basically, it’s when you wake up and you’re sort of dizzy and sick. It’s not a good feeling. I could definitely go without it.
The sad thing about sleeping from about 7 – 1030 in the pm is that now I’m going to be up all night, and I’ll just be tired tomorrow.
No Post Yesterday
Well, obviously I didn’t post yesterday. That didn’t count. My internet was screwing up. I don’t really think I can be held accountable for that.
Getting Bad
I’m getting bad about posting. I realize that. Sorry about it.
I certainly haven’t been busy with real stuff, but I’ve been busy with my own things. I’ve been messing around with about 293819364 distros of Linux lately, trying to get a feel for which I prefer. So far, I actually like Ubuntu the best, but it’s giving me some problems that will probably force me away from it.
Last Friday Evolution (my employer) went out to Giant City State Park to eat lunch at the lodge and then hang out. We played some baseball, frisbee, football, and more. It was a pretty good time. It was cool, too, since it was like a company trip or whatever. Got us out of some actual work. That’s always a good thing.
I’ll make a point of it to post at least once every day from now on. I promise. Heh.
Work
I’ve started work this week at Rose. All I have done is learn this software called LabVIEW which is made by the same people who do Matlab. I assume most of you don’t know what that is, but that means you’re not a nerd.
I’ve moved into a new house, which is good. Not quite settled in yet, but hopefully that will get sorted out this weekend. Just a little more unpacking to do because I’ve been busy with work.
I’d love to say that I have some huge news, but there really isn’t any.
Blending identities
I was watching TV tonight and saw a commercial for a moisturizing cream for men. I was, of course, instantly reminded of the time my sister and I taught my dad the word “metrosexual”. There seems to be a whole subculture of men who are trying to become more like women. They trim their eyebrows, like to shop, use moisturizer, etc. At the same time, there seems to be a subculture of women who are trying to become men. They fight their way into the corporate arena, claim equality, etc.
I’ve noticed too that many cultures are becoming increasingly similar. White people want to be like black people. Almost all countries incorporate American ideas, America is trending towards Asian culture (just turn on some cartoons if you don’t believe me). These are just 2 examples, but globalization seems to be blurring the distinctions between cultures.
Maybe I’m just old fashioned, but I think our differences are what make us interesting. Why do men want to become more pretty? I’m ugly and proud of it. Someday, if I have the good fortune to get married, I would hate for people to think of me as prettier than my wife. I’m not going to comment on the feminism thing because I am scared of feminists. The globalization/cultural blending is a little disgusting to me too. I got tired of all of the American culture I saw in Australia. It pervaded nearly everything.
I’d be curious to know what you all think of this, but I won’t get to since Jared is the only that still reads this crap that I write. Shame on you all for not commenting. Shame.
Cool Video
This is a pretty sweet video I just found. They pop a water balloon in zero gravity.
