Ah, Refreshing!

You know what’s nice? Sleeping in past noon. That just feels good to me. I rather enjoy knowing that I got a good night’s sleep. And since I usually go to bed pretty late, that’s about the only way I can be sure.

The reason I even mention it is because I plan to do it tomorrow, as I did today. It felt good today, and I imagine it will be the same tomorrow.

On another note, playoffs tomorrow. Booyah. Everybody seems to be jumping on the Patriots bandwagon now. I picked them before the playoffs started. Something like 70% of people picked the Colts to beat them, but I stood firm. Some people call me ‘The Wall’, because I stood so firm. You couldn’t push me. As it turned out, I was right. 20-3 is a rather convincing victory over a team that’s supposed to have the best offense in the league. Though I have to admit, the Steelers look like they might have what it takes. I still pick the Pats, though.

Illinois BBall

We managed to make it to 19-0 last night. It was a crazy close game at the end. We actually went up into overtime, because we blew a 13 point lead that we had in the middle of the 2nd half.

The thing that I can’t believe about it, though, is that people were leaving at the end of the 2nd half. Why would you do that when the game’s so close? We actually went to overtime, so obviously it wasn’t a sure win or anything. Anyway, 4-0 versus ranked teams.

Getting Away With Murder

That’s the name of the new Papa Roach cd, which is awesome. I bought it the other day, put it on my computer, and proceeded to listen to it. I’ve got to say, it’s a very good cd.

There’s about 7 songs that I like a lot. They are (in the order they’re on the cd) “Blood (Empty Promises)”, “Take Me”, “Getting Away With Murder”, “Be Free”, “Scars”, “Sometimes”, and “Do Or Die”. If you can, listen to me. They’re all high quality stuff.

Week 6

So weeks 3,6, & 9 are the worst here. Those are the weeks that we usually have midterms b/c most classes have 3 tests. I’m currently in week 6. That means tomorrow I have 3 exams with a lab jammed in between them. It’s not going to be a fun day.

This weekend, though, should be good. I’m hoping to go up to Detroit with my roommates to see the auto show. We might not make it because of a bad weather forcast. I’ve heard that it’s supposed to snow a whole lot up there this weekend. I probably won’t go if the weather report is that bad.

Old Layout

I just finished adding the ability to switch to the old layout. I rigged it together in 10 minutes, so right now you just pick down by the copyright notice. I want to put that somewhere else later on, but for now it’s good. Also, certain things might not work in layout 8. If they don’t, please comment in this post.

MythTV In Your Eye

Over Christmas break, one of the things I aspired to do was get myself a MythTV box. By that, I mean a computer that would run a program called MythTV for me to act as a glorified TiVo.

I didn’t want to spend a ton of money or anything, though, so that was kind of holding me back. Then, I found out that Kyle had an old computer they weren’t using, and I bought it from him. I got it for $50, put a TV tuner card in there, and setup the software.

It took me a couple tries, but eventually I got everything running the way I wanted it. After I got the myth box setup, I installed Linux on my Xbox and put a frontend on it, so I can watch the shows on my TV. Basically, cable goes to computer, computer records show, Xbox streams show over network from computer, Xbox outputs to TV. It’s really amazing what can be done with an Xbox.

Anyway, it’s awesome, and I’m very proud of it. Heh. It took a lot of work, so I think I have reason to be. Best of all, it’s free unlike a TiVo subscription. Oh, and it skips commercials like the badass it is.

Back Again

Well, I’m sad to say Christmas break is over. It’s the second best time of the year behind summer break (see a pattern here?), and it’s gone.

Classes have started again. I’ll get into that late. For now, just know that since school has started again, you can expect 2+ posts from me per day. 1 at the very, very least, as this is my New Year’s resolution–to post more often, that is.

Credit

Well, after a fight with the registrar today, I managed to get my credits from Australia. They were making it tough b/c of the grading scale. I had to go and talk to all of the department chairs in the areas I had taken classes and get their approval again. It turned out to be much easier that I thought. Then, I got an email from my mom saying that an official transcript had arrived at my house w/ an explanation of the grading scale. I could probably have circumvented all the crap, but I guess it worked out in the end.

My Suitemate

So last year we put a picture of one of my suitemates on hot or not. He’s asleep in it.

*note: he’s the one dylan had a gay crush on last year.

I refuse to actually post the picture up here, but here’s the link:

It’s that time again

I haven’t put a picture up in a while, so I decided that now is a good time. This is Darling Harbor, which is really just a touristy/nightlife area.

It has been a while

Well, I haven’t done this in a long time. So much has happened since my last post.

For instance, right now, I’m at work, and the phones aren’t working. So I’m getting paid to do nothing. I think I’ll get paid to watch a little arrested development later. I almost didn’t come tonight too.

The reason I almost didn’t come tonight is because I’ve been sick this week. I’ll spare you of the gory details, but the doctor called it the intestinal flu if that gives you any idea.

As most of you know, I got a new car on December 23. It’s a 2001 black MR2 spyder. Everyone I actually know has probably heard that by now, but Jared tells me that other people read this site too. So this one’s for you guys.

I’m back at school now, after my extremely short Christmas break. We definitely get screwed. Oh well.

That rams made this playoffs! They have a decent shot at winning the first game, which would mean that I would get to see them play on my birthday weekend. That would be pretty awesome.

My boss just showed up, and she says that they’re going to try to get the phones fixed. That’s too bad for me. I’ve heard that last time this happened, they just let everybody go home or stay and take the money. Guess I can’t win them all.

I found out today that some my acquintances in Sydney were effected by the tsunami. I knew some guys from Sri Lanka, and one of them is still missing family. My contact didn’t know on the other one. I wasn’t great friends with either of them, but it still sucks. I guess neither of them were there though, so that’s good.

Nick, sorry to hear about that. I hope everything gets back in order for you.
