I Had Hoped

Haha, I had kind of hoped that this wouldn’t happen, but more or less knew it would. Of course, I’m referring to the lack of posts over the holiday season.

Christmas was good. We have some family visit. It’s always nice to see relatives who I rarely see. That’s one of the definite downsides to living 15+ hours away from people. You just don’t see them that often.

As far as gifts and such, I got some good things. I got an awesome Broncos pillow. It’s one of those big, body pillows. I enjoy that one for sure. I also got a carrying case for my monitor, which is something I’ve been wanting for a while. Since it’s an LCD, there’s a large potential for damage, but now when I move it it has a protective thing on it.

I also got a few poker things. I got a shirt pertaining to poker, some poker chips, and a nice poker tabletop thing. It’s basically a foldable table without legs. You put it on a different table, and voila! Instant poker. There’s a spot for chips to go, and even a spot for drinks. It’s nice.

I got a few DVDs, too. Bournce Supremacy, which is a badass movie. I also got the Special Extended DVD Edition Return of the King. That’s awesome, because it completes my collection. I haven’t watched it yet. I think I’m going to take it back up to school and just watch all of them some weekend or something.

More updates later.

Snow = Imperfect Driving Conditions

I just got back from playing some Halo 2 with a few people. There’s about six inches of snow on the ground. It was not easy driving home in that shit. It wouldn’t have been so bad, except that I was driving a manual, rear-wheel drive truck with nothing in the back except snow. That fucker was light.

I almost got stuck a few times. Once just leaving the house, but I managed to get out of that by just backing up to the edge of the street. Heh. That’s the way to do it. The other time was right next to our house. It wasn’t too bad at all driving on the main road, but getting off onto a road that hasn’t been plowed was a little different. Not only that, but to get on that road I had to slam through a pile of snow, which was there assumedly because they had plowed the crossing street. Needless to say, though, I arrived home and in one piece. Tomorrow when the snow melts a little – assuming it does – I’ll got out to check how close to the lines I was when I parked. Heh.

Rearrangement

Sometime while I was in Sydney, my dad decided to rearrange our kitchen. He moved all the dishes and stuff to different cabinets. The way he stored it actually made a lot of sense compared to our old way, but it’s still weird for me. I open up the cabinet where the plates used to be, and there’s some serving bowls there now.

We hadn’t moved that stuff around since we moved into that house about 15 years ago. So it’ll probably take me a while to grow accustomed to the whole thing.

Shoppin’

Just got through round 1 of Christmas Shopping. I swear people people worse drivers when it’s This Time Of Year. Maybe it’s not really that people become worse drivers, but more old people come out of their caves. It’s crazy, though, I tell you. Crazy, indeed.

I got my parents something, my very little sister (kyla = 2 years, 2 months) a couple things, and I got Megan something. I already got something for my other sister (corinne = 17 years, 9 months) back in like August or September, so I don’t really have to worry about that. I don’t plan on getting a whole lot more, actually, which is nice.

Martz

Well, the Rams got destroyed yesterday. Their offense managed to score 0 points, which is pretty bad for a team that’s supposed to be an offensively minded team. All of this, to one of the worst teams in the NFL.

I think this loss is a good thing for the Rams in the long run. If they had won this game, they would have a had a decent shot at making the playoffs. If they made the playoffs, they could not fire Martz. Martz is quite possible the worst coach in the NFL. If the Rams make the playoffs though, they wouldn’t be able to fire him. They would become the Notre Dame of the NFL.

I’m still not sure that they will be able to fire Martz, but we can all have our hopes.

My saturday

So I actually had a pretty interesting day. In the morning I had to go out and help my grandpa out a bit on the farm.

Then we went out to Thompsonville for lunch. I feel that I’ve been educated in the ways of hickdom just being there. We pulled up in the full parking lot of this restaraunt in one of the two cars that weren’t pickup trucks or lincolns. Everybody in there had on Carhartt and/or a cowboy hat. It was just quite an experience for me.

I saw A Series of Unforturnate Events tonight. It was pretty interesting, but not as good as so of the reviewers are saying it is. It was worth the time to watch it, but it wasn’t fantastic.

I still want to see Ocean’s 12, Blade Trinity, and Meet the Fochers.

HAHA

This is very humorous to me. Go to that page and then search for ‘Shouzer’. We come up as a top20 resource or something. It’s because one time Scott posted (and then I quoted later on) something about how sex should only happen inside a marriage. That’s funny. We’re moving on up in the world. To the east side. We’re looking at deluxe apartments, too, but no luck so far. And it doesn’t appear that there’s really any apartments in the sky–though if there were, I’m sure they’d be deluxe.

Google Suggest

Google Suggest is one of the coolest things I’ve seen on the web in a long time. Check it out.

Basically, as you’re typing, it sends quick queries to Google’s servers and a list of suggest searches gets returned along with how many results each of them would have if you submitted the search. It’s pretty damn pimp. It uses a technology, along with JavaScript (apparently a Google favorite), called XMPHTTP. I’m gonna learn that shit. That’s sweet.

Some Good Old Halo 2

Al and I played a couple other people on the floor in some Halo 2. We won the first game, but lost the second. I’m going to have to get better with a sniper. I used to be pretty good, but then we made this rule where you coudln’t use snipers or rockets in a lot of the games, so I lost my skill.

That was the whole reason we even lost the 2nd match. It was a gigantic map for 2v2, as far as I’m concerned. And unfortunately, that equates to sniping bitches winning. Oh well. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em..

Same Here

Just like Hark, I’ve only got one exam left. Unfortunately, it’s the worst class in the history of the world. I think you all know which one I’m talking about by now.. It’s pretty damn bad.

I’m not honestly sure how I did on either of my exams today. Could have been good and could have been bad, it just depends on if I was actually doing right the ones I thought I was. I’m hoping.

Uno Mas

So far, the number of finals I’ve taken today (1) has a slight edge on the number of times I’ve heard Jared play his favorite Killers song (0), but that will soon change =)

Only one more test left. Accounting tomorrow morning at 8am (9am?). Then I’m bustin’ outa this place. With authority!

Listening To: My Chemical Romance

The Killas

I think Muzakphan could be like a name for some scientific thing. I mean, it’s spelled all funny and stuff. I don’t know what else is required.

I’ve liked the song “Mr. Brightside” by The Killers for quite a while, but I just recently got their entire cd, Hot Fuss. For those of you unaware, The Killers is a band from the UK with a new album. I’ve heard them described as, “Cooler than The Strokes and fitter than Franz Ferdinand …. Pop Perfection” and “Ambition. Sex. Noise: All filler, these killers.” Now, whether or not a band’s website is the best place to find objective reviews, I leave up to the reader.

Suffice it to say, their whole cd is pretty good. One song stands out above the rest – a king of the hill, as I might call it. A man amongst boys. The OC against Life As We Know It. That song is called “Somebody Told Me”. Right now, you can check that shit at their website (make with the clicky), so I suggest that if you have the means, you should do it.

Matrix Theory Final

Got another final today. This one would be my second. I’m hoping it won’t be too bad, and I don’t honestly expect it to. I aced the first 2 exams in that class, and did well on the 3rd. I’ve posted about it before.

The thing that sucks about a class like that is that being as it was easy throughout the semester, I haven’t had much motivation to study for the final. I mean, I did study, but not as fervently as I have been for my other, harder math class.

I’ve still got to study for Physics, which is surely going to kick my ass. We did a lot of stuff in there that we haven’t touched for most of the semester, because we had it on the first exam. That sucks.

OMGZ~!~! Iz KyLLE RELLY B4KK ?1?!

Roll out the red carpet, ladies and gents. Then role that thing right back up. It’s only me.

For dinner, I had roast chicken, cheese soup, Lucky Charms, Fruit Loops, and chicken strips. Just fyi.

3:30 am and Beyond

For some reason, I’m just not tired right now. It’s 330 in the morning, so all signs say I should be. All signs also point to yes, according the Magic 8 Ball, so we never can be quite sure about “all signs”.

I watched Independence Day earlier. I hadn’t seen that since the theater, as far as I can remember. It’s a mighty fine movie, if I do say so myself. There’s quite a few unrealistic parts. For example, Jeff Goldblum writes a virus for alien technology. That’s just dumb, since he would have no way of understanding it. Getting past that stuff, though, it’s enjoyable.

I think it’s bedtime. I hope this post isn’t *entirely* boring, because I’ve gotten much, much more tired over the course of the 3 minutes and 27 seconds (to my count, anyway.. who knows how long it really took) it took to write this sumbitch. Goodnight.
