I was watching some K-1 fighting last night on ESPN 2. That’s some great stuff. It’s the ultimate martial arts championship, or something like that. Basically, its an anything goes, beat the crap out of the other guy fight. It was craziness. The should put that in ESPN more often.
I saw the Passion of the Christ last night. It was easily the goriest movie I’ve ever seen. I would recommend that you go see it. Not because it’s gory, but because it’s good.
The movie details the last hours of Jesus’ life, starting in the garden of Gethsemane ending after the crucifixion.
The crucifixion is the reason I was so heated before. It’s not because I have any huge problem with gay people. To say that any sin is no big deal is like saying the crucifixion was unnecessary. If you can excuse a sin without the crucifixion, why would he have needed to do it?
Should we love others? Of course. But just because I love someone, doesn’t mean that I have the right to forgive or excuse their sins. Only God has that right.
Go see the movie. Hopefully you will understand what I mean.
I ordered 6 headsets the other day for a bunch of people. They came in yesterday, and Al & I have been playing around with them. They’re pretty cool. I like them, anywy. We got ourselves a TeamSpeak server setup and everything.
I also found this program called Shoot (Link), that rocks the house. Basically, it puts voice recognition into games that don’t have it. I think it’s pretty dang cool.
I’m done with finals. Funny thing is, my parents sent me this finals care pack from the snack place on campus. I didn’t find out about it until right after I finished my last final. That’s kind of funny. Oh well, I’ll have something to eat on the way home. Have I ranted about people who should send emails but only send a letter? Because I almost missed a meeting about that once.
In other news, I think I’ll be visiting St. Louis next week to visit a friend from school. If any of you who live in St. Louis want to get together, let me know. I might be IMing you about it later.
I hate exams. They suck. You studies hours upon end for a single test that takes about an hour and makes up something like 20% of your grade or more. Suck.
[Update:] School isn’t worth it. I hate it.
Recently there’s been a lot of talk about gay marriage, because of the San Francisco mayor suddenly allowing it and the Massachusetts Supreme Court saying there’s nothing wrong with it. People are getting crazy mad.
There’s people out there who actually want to pass an amendment banning it. I can’t believe it’s seriously that big of an issue for anybody. The idea of actually amending the Constitution with that tripe is ludicrous. Bush has said he’s not sure if he’ll back it, thank god for that. At least the man has something going on in his head.
He has said though, in his ultimate wisdom, that he will definitely back a law protecting straight marriages. Here’s where I get confused. I’m a pretty smart guy, but what the hell do straight marriages need protecting for? Someone please explain to me how a gay marriage would interfere with a “regular” one? It’s not like there’s some supreme ultimatum or something, where we must choose one or the other.
The thing that people don’t get is that whether you like it or not (that’s an entirely different discussion), there are gays in the world. Not allowing them to be married is discrimination in its purest form. There are benefits that go along with being married in today’s modern world, such as tax benefits. Tell me why homosexuals don’t deserve these just as much as heterosexuals? Please.
The Redskins are in discussion with the Bronos to make a trade that would send Clinton Portis to Washington for Champ Bailey and maybe a pick in this year’s draft. Judging this trade on face value alone, I can only say one thing. What is Denver thinking?
I saw this on Yahoo news today. I thought you might be interested since you seemed to be on the last Will Hung Post.
Here’s a couple interesting stories I thought I’d share:
New Mexico is trying to pass a law that would require every citizen to install an ignition interlock by 2009. Basically, an ignition interlock requires a breathalizer test before the car will start. Frankly, I think this is stupid. The damn thing takes 30 seconds. I don’t feel like waiting 30 seconds for my car to decide I’m not drunk. Not only that, but it requires random “rolling tests”, in which you’re tested while you’re driving. Lame.
There’s a thing that’s been developed called the TransPerformance Performer that will tune your guitar for you in around 5 seconds. Not just that, but it will tune it in alternate tunings if you wish, too. That would be something along the lines of Drop D. I think it’s great. They say it can be installed on any regular guitar, too. Link.
How is it that Iraq gets destroyed because they probably have WMD, but Iran, N. Korea, etc. get a slap on the rest when they definitely have WMDs.
Here’s what I mean
I just don’t understand this. I understand that Saddam was a horrible guy that need to be removed from power, but why did Bush have to blame it on WMD? It’s pretty obvious that he had some other reason for attacking Iraq. (I don’t really want to start a discussion about his motives).
Why didn’t he just reveal his motives? I would rather him say that he had a personal vendetta against Saddam than to lie about his motives.
This isn’t just a thing Bush does. All politicians seem to lie. Look at Clinton, he lied about his affair. I wouldn’t have cared that much about that whole affair thing if he would have been honest, but he had to lie.
Why can’t presidents live by the same morals we teach children? Tell people the truth, that way we can make decisions and let democracy work. We leaders lie, big problems happen. I guess they don’t teach ethics at Yale and Oxford.
The two days before the NBA trading deadline are always fun days during the year. But with the deadline approaching tomorrow afternoon, nothing has happened. Come on. ‘Sheed to the Pistons or Knicks? Kobe for AI? Ju Howard out of Orlando? Dampier anywhere? Mark Cuban spending a lot of money? Steinbrenner topping that? Wait, wrong sport. But what I’m saying is that this year looks to be a bust in exciting trade deadline transactions. Oh well, at least Starbury is winning.
I stayed up pretty late last night, so it makes sense that I’d be tired today, which I am. The funny thing to me about it, though, is the fact that I’m not tired so much anymore. The only time I actually start getting tired is during my classes. Those things bore the hell out of me.
I’ve never actually fallen asleep in any of my classes or anything, but I’ve gotten reasonably close on more than one occasion. It’s always on those days that I get there and then find out I didn’t really need to be. Today’s CS, for example, was one of those lectures. I thought about leaving, but while the lecture is decently large, it’s still small enough that it would just be rude. And I’m just not that guy.
the riaa filed more john doe lawsuits against fillesharers today. you can read about it at any major news site. the point of this post is to comment on a quote in the article.
The RIAA’s president, Cary Sherman, said illegal downloads continue hurting new, legitimate Internet services for selling music. “We are sending a clear message that downloading or ‘sharing’ music from a peer-to-peer network without authorization is illegal, it can have consequences and it undermines the creative future of music itself,” Sherman said in a statement.
It undermines the future of music itself? Are we being serious here? He is basically saying “People make music for money alone.” Is that, too, I ask, why people write books and make movies and paint pictures and sculpt statues? Fine, anyone who is good at doing these things support themselves by the money they make from selling their products, but is that why they got into it to begin with? I think not. I can just see Billy Joe Armstrong thinking to himself one day, “I don’t ever wanna flip burgers. I think that I’ll make songs on my guitar and sell them.” Music is inspired by emotion. Music is an outlet for emotion. All I’m saying is this: As long as people experience sadness, love, hate, happiness, anxiety, bitterness, and any other emotion, there will be music, because it is a way to release the emotion. To say that p2p fille-sharing undermines the creative future of music itself is just moronic and stupid.
I didn’t know Mozilla had put the new browser out. It works way better than Firebird, which is nice because Firebird had some rather annoying bugs. I like that you can watch .wma movies now.
On an interesting side note, a guy in my dorm works on the mozilla project, but he’s a little out there.
Also, I didn’t know other people read this site. That’s pretty cool. You people should comment more.
