Business Is Slow

Geez, pretty much a ghost town around these parts, huh?

I really shouldn’t be slacking off like I am. As such, I won’t. Christmas was pretty good. I enjoyed it, at least, and I think everybody liked what I got them. Heh, refer to the previous post for more info on that. :)

Break as a whole has been going well, also. I’ve primarily been just taking it easy and not doing much. That’s the way it should be. I got Fire Emblem for Christmas, and that has been consuming much of my time.

I started working this week. I’m working this week and next for some extra cash over break. It’s not bad at all, either, b/c I like the place I work a lot (Evolution Multimedia Corporation), as it’s a great environment, and the pay is pretty good.

I’ll be bringing updates much more frequently from here on out. Don’t worry.

Comments

I’ve just got a few comments on some fairly old posts. I didn’t want to put them in the comments section b/c they are so old.

Apparently, some doctors, this guy in particular don’t believe ADHD even exists. So its not that everyone has ADHD, its that no one has ADHD.

I knew that girls read this site, which is one of the reasons I got in an argument w/ Harlow about the way I talk now. I got yelled at by a certain girl for using “naughty language”. I guess college has changed me. I’ve also toned it down a bit in case you hadn’t noticed.

You guys shouldn’t complain about your month Christmas break being too short, because I don’t get nearly that long. A month would be fine w/ me. However, I’ll be going back the first week of January. It’s about the length of a HS break.

By the way, I just got home from St. Louis. Got to see the Rams dominate on the Bengals, and since the Eagles lost, they should get homefiel advantage. That’s good stuf. Couple that w/ their homefield dominance, and the Rams could be the next NFC Champs.

Got Asian?

Last night, I had dinner over at the Hunan place in Carbondale. With me being who I am, one would think that I would’ve eaten there more than I have…once. The last time I ate there was sometime earlier in the year for lunch, and while the food was pretty good, I dont think we got near as much food as we should have for what we paid for. There was quite a bit of food last night though, and all of it was pretty damn good. And you know if an asian recommends a chinese place, that its legit.

Today, I got the chance to catch The Last Samurai. When I saw the first preview for the movie, I didn’t think to highly of the movie….Tom Cruise mingling and fighting with samurai just didnt appeal to me too much as a movie. Once I learned a little bit of the story and why he was actually with them, the movie didn’t seem near as bad. When I did finally see it, the movie was actually better than I thought it was going to be. Good movie which I’d recommend, although it isnt the shortest movie at something like 2.5 hours. It doesn’t touch Return of the King in terms of length or goodness though, which I still have yet to see… :(

Paper From Hell

I’ve recently discovered that one place I have no business meddling is wrapping gifts. I am horrible at it. My presents from now on should just be me wrapping a strange shape. The ensuing laughter of those watching would be better than most of my gift ideas anyway.

I wish I had a digital camera at my disposal. Then I could post pictures of my mutilated gift wrappings–for your viewing pleasure, of course.

It’s horrid; it really is. I look at somebody else’s wrapped gift and I think to myself, “Hm… Fold it up a little bit, tape it, place a nice bow on it, and tada!” So then I go try it… Fold it up a little bit, tape it, place a nice bow on it, and ta…… WTF? Somehow you can still see most of the present!

So I proceed to try it again. Fold it up a little bit, tape it… Damn, that tape stuck to itself. Tape it… Shit, now the paper isn’t folded anymore. Fold it, tape it, place a bow up on this bitch, and ta-freakin-da… I managed to wrap this whole cd. Wait a minute… Ah hell, which one was that? Who was it for? ::Rip::

Next year I’m doing a scavenger hunt.

no sleepy

oh my gosh. i KNOW my dorm has quiet hours until saturday night, but i swear it’s enforced about as much as the underage drinking law in Herrin. i started trying to go to sleep last night at about 1am, but i’m not successful until 230-245am, and beleive me, it wasn’t because i was not tired. some kid that lives next to me continuously just felt like yelling. i really don’t know what he was yelling at. but i don’t think he did either. i just know that if he didn’t quench his uncontrollable thirst for screaming, something really bad was going to happen. i know of at least two people on my floor who have chem tests this morning; i feel sorry for them. at least i have the morning (finally quiet) to prepare for my last final.

oh yeah, and when Mr. I Like To Yell A Lot wasn’t yelling, he was dropping heavy shit on the floor. so i’d doze off, and then my bed would shake. needless to say, it was my worst night here, as far as sleeping is concerned.

i’m not asking for much. just a little serenity after 1 or 130am during finals week. is that too much?

the night’s observation: those cinder blocks that seperate dorm rooms are about as sound proof as a wet piece of toilet paper.

Shake It Like A Polaroid Picture

Christmas is a great time of year. I don’t think there’s anybody who can deny it. There’s undoubtedy holidays you can dispute, but Christmas is simply not one of them. After all, it commemorates the birth of Santa!

In all seriousness, though, it never fails to please. The only qualm one might have with it is length of the breaks that appertain to it. Once my month break is over, I’m just getting started. After all, everybody is occupied with Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Eve/Day. What time do we have for anything else?

My idea (brainstorm, if you will) is that Christmas break should last two months. One for holiday-related affairs; one for relaxing. Christmas is by no means a relaxing event, after all. Everybody is busy with buying gifts at the last minute and wrapping said gifts. I see no time for relaxation in there.

Then there is the further issue that people have with whether or not their gift was appreciated. That seems to be a very universal concern. My answer to this is simple, as well: If you don’t like your gift, you don’t get one next year. To hell with you. Hehe. Harsh? Eh, maybe. Inappropriate? I submit that it is not.

Anyway, happy holidays to all! Unless, of course, I do poorly on my last final tomorrow. Then you can all have miserable Christmas’s. :)

[Edit:] P.S. What song is the subject from?

ADD and You

I’ve officially taken the stance that everyone in the world has attention deficit disorder. Everybody has problems concentrating at times; I simply think some people are more disciplined, if you will, than others and able to better control themselves in those situations.

There are times, like right now for instance, when I just can’t keep myself focused on the task at hand–studying, in this case. No matter what I do, I get distracted. It’s not like I have the TV on, either. Hell, here I am typing about it…

That being said, however, I don’t think I need any damn medicine, either. I think it’s an innate thing people are born with; one that doesn’t need medicinal “fixing.” I don’t have an explanation as to why we’re that way, but I’m also not very concerned with it.

I feel blas hearing about it all the time. I certainly don’t believe it to be as extensive an exigency as much of the country does. There are even those new commercials for Adult ADD. WTF?

RIAA Loses On Appeal

If you click here, it’ll take you to a quick news story about how the RIAA can longer make ISPs hand over the names of people they suspect of trading copyrighted files.

first final score

I got my first final score today. For my computer science class. I got a 236.5/250 on the final, which leaves me with a 833.87/870 for my class score, which is, in fact, a 95.85, or an A. Oh yeah.

Why Am I Still Awake?

To the tune of “Let It Snow”:

Oh you can’t hold it in any longer
‘Cos the urge to go is getting stronger
and since you’ve no place to go
yellow snow, yellow snow, yellow snow

It’s 408am. Yay! It’s snowing outside. Double yay!

RE: Physics Test

I got my physics test back today that I talked about ealier. I got an 82 on it, which I was pretty happy with since the class average was a 59 (the low score was a 35). When I walked into the room, he had a graph on an overhead projector showing the grade distribution. No A’s, 2-3 B+, 2-3B, 1-2C+, 1-2C, 2-3D+, 2-3D, and 16-17F. Scared the crap out of me, but I guess I did alright. I’ll be pretty happy if I can get a B in that class.

i thought they left

i’ve definitely been noticing a resurgence of pop-up ads. anybody else? i was sure that they were totally 90′s, but it seems they’ve made an early comeback. were they not replaced by those ads that fly across the current active window and do their sing and dance? i’ve noticed pop-ups on the likes of espn.com and weather.com lately, and those are just the ones i remember. say no to pop-up.

it’s icy *brrrrrr* in here

it’s december, i’m close to chicago, and the windows are open in my room. it is so un-freaking-believably cold in my room. but i’m basically a pushover, so it stays that way. jason claims it’s “warm” when describing our dormroom climate, but i prefer words like “sub-arctic” and “absolute zero.” he wonders why i sleep in longjohns with clothes over them – and three blankets. i wonder why his spit doesn’t freeze. one thing i will say though: my dormroom is tropical compared to franklin’s bedroom.

Return of the King

Best movie I’ve seen in a really long time. Although, I didn’t get back until 4:00, and my 8:00 hurt bad. Our school paid most of the ticket too, so I only had to pay $3 to get in. You gotta love that. The movie was ridicuously long, but they cut out some of the ending from the book. I could live w/ it though, b/c my butt was hurting bad by the time they should have put that in anyway.

Since everyone else is talking about it…

I had two finals today, that being history and math. History is the one I probably had to study the most in and math was the one I thought was going to be the toughest. I studied for a little under six hours for the history final, but at least I’m pretty sure that I got an A. Crazy thing with that class is the exams is basically writing a paper for the entire hour…this last one was eight pages front and back, and I wrote for all three hours. At least it didnt make my brain hurt like Jared’s cs though. Math wasnt as bad as I thought it was going to be, I got most of the test done reasonably fast, but spent the rest of the time trying to figure out two problems…I probably got a low a or high b on it.

In nonschool shiznizzy, I watched a promotion test at the TKD school I’m going to now. If the tests I took back home were that short and easy, I probably wouldve made black belt in two years. I don’t think I’d feel like I’d really accomplished anything though, at least back home I earned and had to work decently hard for my belt.
